WELCOME TO THE OLD QUAY APOTHECARY BLOG

Hi I'm Germaine and I'm the driving force behind Old Quay Apothecary.  I started my small business because I have a passion for making affordable, personal care and home fragrance products with ingredients found in nature. 

I chose the name Old Quay Apothecary because I live on an old slate quay along the beautiful Menai Straits in North Wales. I'm also a bit of a "Green Witch" at heart and feel deeply connected to the wonder and magic of the natural world.

Pronounced "uh-poh-thu-karee". Historically an Apothecary was the term given to the local “wise-woman / wise-man”, chemist or pharmacist who prepared and dispensed medicenes. It was also the term given for the shop where they sold their wares. 

Nowadays the term taps into a holistic view of healing the "mind, body and spirit" such as the use of plant based oils, spices and herbs in natural personal care and spiritual well-being products.
